SeekBeats Drum Machine Synth App Reviews

Hands down the sickest beat maker Ive ever laid hands on. Ive only been playing with it for 20 minutes and already Ive got club worthy tracks. I shouldve waited to see if it can be connected to external midi controllers and sequencers before giving this review. I just had to give the creators props! Wow, wow, wow!!!!!!!!!

The main thing that makes this drum machine different from others is the level of control one has in tweaking the various drum sounds. If you like to geek out and spend hours adjusting filters, oscillators and other synth parameters you might love this app. A couple of important things are missing: the biggest error in omission is the ability to switch between sequences on the beat! Why this app switches between sequences they way it does is beyond me. At the very lest a song function should have been included allowing one to set a predetermined order of sequences that could play one time through or loop. This greatly diminished the value of this app IMO. Ok app, mine is getting removed from my iPad as I dont find it very useful.

This is one of the best drum synth apps around... And is my favorite... I can get fat kicks and clear snares and hats easily and with the randomize sound function, I lock the ones I tweaked and get really crazy percussive sounds to groove on... Just needs a export loop function and were done :D highly recommended!

Enjoy creating all the custom sounds and blips this app is capable of. Im strictly a Bluesman but I like to branch off from time to time and this app gives me all the tools I need.

This drum synth sounds great and does allow you to quickly experiment with new sounds. While there is a step sequencer, this only manages patterns and not songs. So its impossible to use this application to create a backing track, you have to switch patterns yourself, which is annoying also since they change instantly instead of on the next beat. Theres also no way to change patterns through MIDI messages, meaning that pattern changes cant even be automated through another application or foot pedal. Everything is focused on sounds and snapshots of these. You cant store or load individual patterns. The sound sculpting sadly also lacks a number of fundamental effects like delay and reverb. Finally, tap tempo seems to be missing, which is really strange for a drum application. I like the application and currently record individual patterns as audio inside Auria, and manage songs like this. It is a very cumbersome way to approach this though, but the sounds are good enough to go through this effort.

Using iPhone 4s. The interface of the app doesnt fit in my screen. It cuts off the right side of the screen so I cant use all the features. Plz fix

Envelopes galore for sound shaping, way more than standard ADSR on the amp...Great Seq.. Hope the dev makes this into a VSTi.

SeekBeats is the first app Ive ever stopped using mid-session in order to type a review about. Its that great. Some of the other beat-making apps get a Lot of attention and hype but SeekBeats is one of the For-Those-Who-Know iOS miracles. Ive owned the app for a good while and mistakenly thought itd take some invested time to learn - when I finally dove in I realized that it couldnt be more intuitive .. not to mention Powerful and FUN to use. It is hands down the best use of iOS touchscreen for fluid music workflow -- True Joy is manually adjusting envelopes (for example). The UI is so smart and clean that it makes other beat-making apps feel clunky and laborious to create with in comparison. SeekBeats is lean, mean, and my personal new go-to for all things Beat-creation. Be sure to check some of the videos on this app too as they demonstrate even further power and potential. A beats tool grand slam.

I wont get into how much I spent on other amps & sample libraries to try & get what this app does. Its very flexible, intuitive & sounds killer... One thing I will say its also worth checking out Elastic Drums too. I have both of these & they fulfill all my drum needs. Except for acoustic drums. But there are no regrets with this app. I love it.

I wish there was a hardware drum machine that could do this. With midi now!! One of the best music apps I have ever used and I have used some real good ones. A little Autechre machine!

Im addicted! Its so much fun and really intuitive. Really easy to figure out even if you have limited DAW/synth knowledge.

Considering I invest all my spare capital in musical equipment (analog, digital hardware, controllers, software) I think Im not making a bold claim that Ive spent a lot of time with many types of drum computers. In my fairly deep exploration, I find SeekBeats to be the most original sounding drum machine on the iPad. If youre looking for a synth easel for percussive sounds, and want to be completely in control of the tones, this app is for you. I am not a huge fan of drum kit classified percussive sounds, and very few music production environments that allow you to completely sidestep that convention. This is a bit like an Elektron Machinedrum to reference some hardware, or a more complex Korg Gadget module Tokyo. If youre new to drum synthesis, the layout is intuitive and the envelope visuals are very helpful in understanding your sounds. If you are an experienced synthesis enthusiast like me, its also got plenty of sonic character and is deep enough to get plenty of composition mileage out of, or make quick percussion for jamming. This app is the ISH for DRUMS. seriously! Experimental, techno, hiphop, whatever. You can sequence cool stuff and randomize it to your liking. Good effects too. You can create bass or leads with the oscillators. I love this app. DM1 and this have me covered. Then STROM, SAMPLR, ANIMOOG, and KEEZY and possibly IMINI cover me completely. If this app was $5-$10 Id still buy it. Keep developing it tho. Dont stop.

This drum machine app is very user friendly and intuitive. Highly recommend.

Complex but I am a begginer.

The app sounds excellent and is a joy to play with, but it crashes every single time I use it - using the latest iPad and the latest version of iOS.
