Considering I invest all my spare capital in musical equipment (analog, digital hardware, controllers, software) I think Im not making a bold claim that Ive spent a lot of time with many types of drum computers. In my fairly deep exploration, I find SeekBeats to be the most original sounding drum machine on the iPad. If youre looking for a synth easel for percussive sounds, and want to be completely in control of the tones, this app is for you. I am not a huge fan of drum kit classified percussive sounds, and very few music production environments that allow you to completely sidestep that convention. If youre new to drum synthesis, the layout is intuitive and the envelope visuals are very helpful in understanding your sounds. If you are an experienced synthesis enthusiast like me, its also got plenty of sonic character and is deep enough to get plenty of composition mileage out of, or make quick percussion for jamming. Im Norhythmic on soundcloud if you want to hear what it sounds like to do original synthesis. Ill have my sequences from this software up soon!
